Dr. Keelan O’Neill is a Research Fellow at the Fluid Science and Resources (FSR) division of The University of Western Australia (UWA). His research focuses on sustainable hydrogen supply chains, low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) instrumentation, and geophysical sensor development. Prior to UWA, he worked at Qteq developing NMR tools for wireline logging. O’Neill holds a PhD from UWA on Earth’s Field NMR multiphase flow meters.
Research interests include hydrogen energy systems, NMR applications in materials analysis (e.g., lunar/martian regolith), and downhole geophysical sensors for iron ore exploration. His work bridges fundamental science with industrial applications, particularly in renewable energy and resource engineering.
Notable projects include developing H2Pathways for hydrogen supply chain modeling and optimizing NMR-based flow meters for multiphase systems. His recent articles emphasize hydrogen storage, green steel production, and planetary material characterization. O’Neill collaborates with industry partners and contributes to Australia’s energy transition strategies.
