Joshua A. Marafino serves as an Instructor of Air and Space Studies in the Air Force ROTC program at the University of Portland and holds the rank of Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force. His military career spans over a decade with critical assignments at MacDill Air Force Base (6th Security Forces Squadron), Ghedi Air Base (704th Munitions Support Squadron), and Kunsan Air Base (8th Maintenance Group), including deployments to Afghanistan supporting Operations Freedom Sentinel and Inherent Resolve as part of the first Guardian Angel team in Kabul. His professional expertise centers on: Military Science and Aerospace Studies curriculum development National Security operations and training management Joint technical instruction across aerial port operations, hazardous materials handling, and parachute rigging Large-scale training program oversight for military personnel Prior to his current role, Sergeant Marafino served as Training Management Element Chief at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, where he led four training managers responsible for scheduling, certification, and maintenance training across three squadrons comprising 1,200 personnel. His operational background includes security forces duties, custody flight supervision, and managing technical training for over 7,000 students annually at Fort Lee's 345th Training Squadron.
