Jarred L. Burley

Lt Col Jarred L. Burley, PhD serves as the Associate Dean of Students at the Graduate School of Engineering and Management, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio since July 2024. His position places him within the academic leadership structure overseeing student affairs for graduate engineering and management programs.

Burley's educational background includes two periods of study at AFIT: from August 2010 to March 2012, and again from August 2014 to September 2017, when he earned his doctoral degree. His military training includes Undergraduate Pilot Training at Sheppard AFB in 2007.

With over 15 years of Air Force service, Burley's technical expertise spans laser physics, measurement and signature intelligence (MASINT), and radiochemistry. His career demonstrates progression from technical specialist roles to leadership positions, including Flight Commander at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center and Commander of the USAF Radiochemistry Laboratory. His research interests naturally align with AFIT's focus areas in engineering physics and technical intelligence.

Burley's leadership experience includes serving as Branch Chief in the Global Power Programs Directorate at the Pentagon (2020-2021), Deputy Commander of the 709th Surveillance and Analysis Group (2023-2024), and various intelligence-related positions at Wright-Patterson AFB. His background bridges scientific expertise with military application, particularly in sensor technologies and intelligence analysis.

As Associate Dean of Students, Burley oversees student affairs for one of the military's premier graduate engineering institutions, which includes departments of Aeronautics & Astronautics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics & Statistics, Operational Sciences, and Systems Engineering & Management. His role connects military professional development with advanced academic training for Air Force officers and civilian personnel.
