Gabriël van Beusekom is Assistant Professor in Interdisciplinary Social Science at Utrecht University. His research examines health outcomes and social relationships of sexually and gender diverse youth, including LGBTQ+ adolescents, applying quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate minority stress mechanisms and protective factors. Previous positions include research at the Netherlands Institute for Social Research analyzing LGBTQ+ well-being nationally. He earned his PhD from the University of Amsterdam examining mental health risk and protective factors for LGBTQ+ youth. Research interests focus on minority stress processes, parental acceptance effects on mental health, healthcare access disparities, and peer victimization mechanisms affecting LGBTQ+ adolescents. Publications employ advanced statistical methods including longitudinal analysis, mediation models, and population-level surveys. He teaches courses on youth development, identity formation, and inclusive practices while participating in academic networks including APA Division 44 and the Dutch Association of Sexologists.
