Nicole Forstenhäusler is a Research Fellow and Senior Research Associate at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, University of East Anglia. She is also a member of the Centre for Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences Climatic Research Unit and the Environmental Social Sciences group at UEA. Her work focuses on climate change impacts, risk assessment, and adaptation strategies across multiple international contexts. Her key research interests include: Climate change risk assessment and modeling Natural capital and biodiversity conservation under climate change Climate adaptation strategies and resilience planning Development and application of climate projection datasets Global warming impacts on ecological systems Forstenhäusler has been instrumental in developing the Wallace-pARCs Database, a free-access resource for climate change impact assessment. Her research output demonstrates a consistent focus on quantifying climate risks across different warming scenarios (1.5°C to 4°C), with particular attention to biodiversity losses and natural capital degradation. Her methodological approaches often involve bias-corrected climate projections and cross-country comparative analyses. Her work has received significant academic and public attention, with publications being cited in policy documents and picked up by numerous news outlets. The research has substantial real-world implications for climate adaptation planning and biodiversity conservation efforts globally. Forstenhäusler has been involved in major research projects including the NERC-funded 'Impacts and Risk Assessment to better inform Resilience Planning' (2019-2020), demonstrating her capacity to contribute to large-scale, policy-relevant climate research initiatives.
