Barry Kosofsky is a Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College, affiliated with the Brain and Mind Research Institute, and holds appointments in the Departments of Neuroscience, Neurology, Pediatrics in Radiology, and Pediatrics. His work focuses on neurodevelopmental disorders, prenatal drug exposure, gene therapy for neurodegenerative diseases, and neuroimaging.
Research interests include:
- Neurodevelopmental consequences of prenatal cocaine and alcohol exposure
- CLN2 (Batten Disease) pathophysiology and gene therapy
- Neuroimaging biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases
- Dopamine signaling and behavioral epigenetics
Recent publications highlight advances in adeno-associated virus gene delivery for CLN2 disease, metabolomic profiling of cerebrospinal fluid in neurodegenerative disorders, and neurobehavioral impacts of prenatal drug exposure. Key awards include the NINDS Child Neurologist Career Development Program grant. He directs preclinical studies on neurotoxicology and clinical research on pediatric stroke and autism diagnostics.
