Associate Professor Belinda Lange is based at Flinders University in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She is a Full Member of the Caring Futures Institute and also affiliated with the Medical Device Research Institute and the Flinders Digital Health Research Centre within the College of Science and Engineering. She serves as the Research Lead for Technology in the Caring Futures Institute. Education: PhD and Honours Degree in Physiotherapy, University of South Australia Science Degree, Flinders University Research Interests: Belinda Lange is an international authority in virtual reality and game-based rehabilitation. Her work explores the application of digital technologies—including virtual reality, gaming, and telehealth—in health, wellness, and rehabilitation contexts. Her research spans neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, healthy aging, and the use of technology to support behavior change and self-care. She has extensive expertise in evaluating new technologies for clinical effectiveness and user engagement. Recent Research Trends: Her recent publications focus on digital health solutions such as smartphone apps for low back pain management, telehealth for homebound populations, hygiene practices in immersive VR, and robotics-assisted therapy for autism. These reflect a strong trend toward developing and evaluating accessible, scalable, and evidence-based digital interventions that improve patient outcomes and healthcare delivery. Scientific Awards: Best Paper Award, Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) Best Paper Award, Human Computer Interaction (HCI) International Conference Advising and Grants: Belinda has supervised Honours, Masters, and Postdoctoral researchers. Her projects include multi-centre RCTs and collaborations across international institutions. Labs and Teams: She is actively involved in the Caring Futures Institute and contributes to interdisciplinary research through the Medical Device Research Institute and Flinders Digital Health Research Centre. She is a participant in the long-term research program "Visibility and Technological Solutions for Frail, Homebound and Bedridden People - FHBP" (2022–2026), reflecting her ongoing commitment to technological innovation in home-based care.
