Yaira María Barranco Ruiz is a Full Professor in the Department of Physical Education and Sports at the Faculty of Sports Sciences, University of Granada, Spain, where she has taught since 2016 and serves as a member of the PROFITH research group. She designs evidence-based programs like Zumba interventions for sedentary populations and analyzes active commuting's impact on youth physical activity. Her recent publications demonstrate school-based interventions significantly improve children's muscular fitness, active commuting contributes nearly 50% of daily physical activity recommendations for youth, and Zumba programs yield measurable health benefits for sedentary women. Her work combines systematic reviews with practical intervention studies. As part of the PROFITH research group, she develops community health initiatives with international media coverage including ABC, Marca, and Harvard School of Public Health dissemination, translating research into real-world public health applications.
