Lori Boright is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy and Coordinator of Oncology Rehabilitation at Oakland University’s School of Health Sciences. She holds dual Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy (DScPT) from Oakland University, along with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from A.T. Still University, and multiple advanced degrees from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. Her work focuses on oncology rehabilitation, cancer prevention, and geriatric care, with a strong emphasis on interprofessional education and community health initiatives. Dr. Boright’s research addresses cancer prehabilitation protocols, standards for oncology education, and fall prevention strategies for older adults. Notable projects include developing the HOP-UP-PT program to reduce fall risks and implementing oncology competency manuals across international institutions. She is actively involved in professional organizations such as the American Physical Therapy Association’s Oncology Special Interest Group, where she chairs initiatives promoting palliative care and hospice practices. Her scholarship spans oncology rehabilitation curriculum development, telehealth applications for elderly patients, and interprofessional collaboration in healthcare. Recent studies evaluate the efficacy of home emergency readiness programs and robotic-assisted exercise interventions. She has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles, including pioneering work on video-delivered exercise programs and technology literacy among older adults. Beyond academia, Dr. Boright advocates for safe aging-in-place through community outreach and interprofessional education. Her professional affiliations include the Michigan Cancer Consortium and leadership roles in advancing oncology rehabilitation standards globally.
