Glynn Tonsor

Glynn Tonsor serves as a Professor & Extension Specialist in the Department of Agricultural Economics within Kansas State University's College of Agriculture. He joined K-State as an Assistant Professor in March 2010 after completing his Ph.D. at K-State in 2006 and working as an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University from 2006-2010. His office is located in Waters Hall on the Manhattan, Kansas campus, where he maintains an active research and extension program focused on livestock markets and meat demand.

Dr. Tonsor's research interests span the entire meat supply chain from production-level supply issues to end-user consumer demand. His specialized areas include animal identification and traceability, animal welfare and handling, consumer meat and food demand, food safety perceptions, livestock and meat economics, price analysis and risk management, producer and consumer heterogeneity, and research methodology. His work primarily focuses on the cattle/beef and swine/pork industries, examining how these sectors operate within broader agricultural markets.

His publication record demonstrates consistent output of market analyses, particularly monthly demand indices and cattle feeding returns reports. These publications show a strong emphasis on empirical market analysis, with particular attention to how consumer preferences shape meat demand across different demographic segments and geographic regions.
