Sarah Smith is a Regional Livestock Specialist with Washington State University Extension, based in the Grant/Adams Area of Central Washington. She holds an M.S. in Animal Sciences (Ruminant Nutrition) and a B.S. in Animal Sciences from Washington State University. Her work focuses on livestock outreach programs for beef cattle, sheep, and swine producers, emphasizing animal care, food quality assurance, and sustainable production practices. She leads WSU’s state swine outreach programs and collaborates with PNW universities and industry groups. Sarah is a certified Pork Quality Assurance Plus Advisor, Beef Quality Assurance Trainer, and Sheep Safety Quality Assurance Trainer. She co-authored the national Youth for the Quality Care of Animals curriculum and is a member of the WSU MEAT Team (Meat Evaluation and Analysis Team). Her role includes programming from farm to table, addressing both commercial and youth livestock producers. Sarah has been with WSU Extension since 2000.
