Rachel Crotty serves as a Research Fellow at the Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC), contributing to critical research in psychology, human factors, and road safety. Her work bridges academic rigor with real-world transport sector applications through active collaboration with industry partners including Transport Victoria and the Transport Accident Commission. Her educational foundation includes: Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from Monash University (awarded 2024) Rachel's research specializes in driver behavior analysis using advanced methodologies like driving simulation (STIsim), nationally representative surveys, and mixed-methods approaches. She investigates psychological determinants of risky behaviors including aggressive driving, tailgating, and occupational violence in commercial transport sectors, with emphasis on developing evidence-based safety interventions. Her publication record (2023-2025) reveals consistent focus on traffic psychology, featuring scale validation studies, behavioral theory applications, and analysis of aggressive driving patterns. This work demonstrates methodological sophistication through nationally representative samples and interdisciplinary frameworks. Her academic excellence has been recognized with: Malcolm Macmillan Prize (2023) William Webster Prize (2021) Rachel currently leads significant research initiatives including the active project 'Understanding occupational violence and Aggression (OVA) risk in CPV and bus sectors' (2025-2026) and contributed to the 'Baseline Research Program: Behavioural Adaptation to Advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS)' (2022-2023). These projects receive funding from Transport Victoria, TAC, and Corrections Victoria, addressing critical road safety challenges through behavioral science. As a core member of MUARC's research ecosystem, she operates within interdisciplinary teams focused on accident prevention, leveraging the Centre's global reputation in transport safety research while maintaining entrepreneurial activities through co-ownership of an online business.
