Peter G. Klein is the W. W. Caruth Endowed Chair and Professor of Entrepreneurship at Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business, where he also serves as Chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation. He is Director of the Baugh Center’s Free Enterprise Initiative and Academic Director of Baylor’s Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise. Additionally, he holds an adjunct professorship at the Norwegian School of Economics and is a Carl Menger Research Fellow and Senior Academic Advisor at the Mises Institute. He also holds an Honorary Professorship at the Beijing University of Information Science and Technology. His research focuses on the intersection of entrepreneurship, strategic management, and institutional economics. Key interests include entrepreneurial judgment, organizational governance, innovation, ownership structures, and the economic role of management. His work is grounded in both mainstream and Austrian economic traditions, emphasizing the importance of property rights, market processes, and decentralized decision-making. Klein’s recent publications span top journals such as Strategic Management Journal , Organization Science , and Academy of Management Review , with a consistent focus on uncertainty, governance adaptation, and ownership competence. His research trends reflect a deep integration of economic theory with organizational strategy, particularly in understanding how entrepreneurial action shapes firm boundaries and institutional arrangements. Foundation for Economic Education Best Book Prize Klein has advised numerous PhD students and has been principal investigator on research grants from the National Science Foundation, the Kauffman Foundation, the Mises Institute, and the Illinois-Missouri Biotechnology Alliance. His editorial roles include Co-Editor of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal and Associate Editor of the Independent Review , and he has served on the editorial boards of several leading journals. He previously held faculty positions at the University of Missouri, Copenhagen Business School, University of Georgia, and Washington University in St. Louis, and served as a Senior Economist for the Council of Economic Advisers (2000–2001). He is actively involved in academic communities promoting free enterprise, including the Mises Institute, where he lectures regularly at Mises University and other events.
