Louise McLean is an Associate Professor in the School of Educational Psychology and Counselling at Monash University and a registered psychologist. She serves as the School's Graduate Research Lead and an Honorary Fellow at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) and Royal Children's Hospital (RCH), Melbourne. Her research focuses on identifying psychosocial risk and resilience factors for wellbeing across the lifespan and evaluating interventions to enhance sustained wellbeing, particularly in educational and developmental psychology. Key collaborators: Karen-Ann Allen, Andrea Reupert, Umesh Sharma Key projects: National Children's Education and Care Workforce Strategy, NCCD accuracy evaluation, parental mental health research Louise's work spans areas such as mental health across the lifespan , psychosocial risk factors , and the impact of competitive sport on wellbeing in middle-aged and older adults. Her recent publications address childhood belonging, dyslexia diagnosis communication, screen time effects, family mental health, and public health campaign risks. She has been recognized with the Australasian Society of Intellectual Disability (ASID) Australasian Research Award 2013 and shortlisted for the Vice Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Honours Supervision. In community engagement, Louise contributes to a Monash-affiliated athletics club as a Life Membership Awards Sub Committee member and Level 1 Athletics Australia Accredited Coach. Her research integrates quantitative methodologies and aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to mental health and wellbeing.
