Brad Fogo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Secondary Education at San Francisco State University (SFSU), specializing in teacher education. His primary focus includes curriculum and instruction for history-social studies educators, with research emphasizing instructional practice, teacher learning, and inquiry-based history curricula. Dr. Fogo holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Teacher Education from Stanford University (2010), an M.A. in History from the University of Montana (1996), and a B.A. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1992). Prior to academia, he spent a decade as a middle school history teacher in California and Chicago. His research has explored core teaching practices in history education, the impact of educative curriculum materials, and teacher adaptation of document-based instruction. He co-developed the influential Reading Like a Historian curriculum as Director of Curriculum at the Stanford History Education Group. Recent publications highlight innovations in teacher training, curriculum design for difficult historical topics, and frameworks for facilitating historical discussions in classrooms. His work bridges theory and practice, emphasizing evidence-based approaches to history-social science education.
