Barbara Jadwiga Gawronska Pettersson is a Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation, University of Agder, Norway. Born in Słupsk, Poland, she holds an MA in Scandinavian languages from Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznań) and a PhD in linguistics from the University of Lund. Education: MA in Scandinavian Languages, Adam Mickiewicz University PhD in Linguistics, University of Lund Her research spans translation theory, intercultural communication, morphology (aspect and definiteness), collocations in translation, and Pomerania's history. She has published extensively on multimodal children's literature translation, gender representation in translated texts, and literary responses to Pomerania's complex cultural heritage. Recent publications focus on Nordic medieval ballads in digital contexts, translator challenges in fantasy genres, and Pomerania's literary representations during and after conflict. She has contributed to the Agder Forum for Translation Studies and the 'Texts, Interpretations, Cultures' research group. Scientific Awards: Nominated for the Angelus Award (2014) for 'Potępieńcy (The Condemned Ones)' Prize-winning short stories 'Wheatherby' (2016) and 'Dom pod północnym lasem' (2021) As a teacher, she offers courses in Introduction to Linguistics, Translation Theory, Text Linguistics, and Intercultural Communication, guiding BA and PhD projects. Her literary career includes novels 'Rozbita Tarcza' (2018) and 'Alter' (2020), alongside short story collections exploring cultural identity and human conditions.
