Lucie Gournay

Lucie Gournay is a Professor of English Linguistics at the Department of English within the Faculty of Arts, Languages and Human Sciences at the University of Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC). She serves as Director of the Faculty of Arts, Languages and Human Sciences and oversees the Master's program in LLCER (Languages, Literatures, and Foreign Civilizations) at UFR LLSH.

Her research centers on the Theory of Predicative and Enunciative Operations (TOPE), employing written literary corpora to explore:

• Grammatical markers (subject-verb inversion, coordination)
• Lexical semantics (polysemy)
• Linguistic characterization of literary genres
• French/English contrastive analysis (perception representation, direct speech, deictic markers)

Her recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory toward computational methods in contrastive linguistics, with increasing integration of AI applications in multilingual education and quantitative analysis of phrasal constructions. The 2024 AI/multilingualism study marks a significant expansion into technology-impacted language pedagogy.
