Dr. Paweł Migdalski is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of History, Faculty of Humanities, University of Szczecin since 2011. He is a historian specializing in Western Pomerania, Neumark, historiography, collective memory, and historical policy. His academic career spans institutions in Poland, Germany, and international collaborations, with significant contributions to Polish-German historical dialogue and borderland studies. Dr. Migdalski completed his historical studies at the universities of Szczecin, Poznań, Marburg, and Greifswald. His academic journey includes lecturing at the Institute of History and at the IRTG 1540 "Baltic Borderlands" doctoral program at the University of Greifswald in 2010. His research focuses on the complex history of Western Pomerania and Neumark, examining how historical narratives shape contemporary identity and memory. Dr. Migdalski has made significant contributions to understanding the political dimensions of historical memory, particularly in borderland regions. His scholarly work explores the interplay between academic historiography, popular historical consciousness, and political agendas in shaping collective memory of contested territories. He has also been instrumental in developing regional historical education frameworks. Dr. Migdalski's extensive publication record demonstrates a consistent focus on borderland history, cultural heritage, and the politics of memory. His recent work has particularly emphasized the material aspects of historical memory, including war memorials, Jewish heritage sites, and early medieval Slavic settlements as elements of contested historical narratives. His scholarship bridges academic history with practical heritage preservation and public memory initiatives. He has been instrumental in establishing research frameworks for understanding the complex historical layers of Western Pomerania. As co-founder and president of the Historical and Cultural Association "Terra Incognita" in Chojna (since 2009) and the Kulice Academy association (since 2015), Dr. Migdalski has created platforms for interdisciplinary historical research and community engagement with local heritage. These organizations have become important centers for borderland studies, hosting conferences, publications, and educational programs that bridge academic research with public history.
