Thessa Jensen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Psychology at Aalborg University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. She is actively involved in teaching and research, focusing on digital media, ethics, fandom, and artificial intelligence. She contributes to several research groups including InDiMedia (Center for Interactive Digital Media & Experience Design) and explores themes such as participatory design, user experience, and transmedial storytelling. Her research interests center on the ethical dimensions of digital platforms, inspired by Danish philosopher Knud E. Løgstrup. She investigates how design influences user participation and co-creation, particularly in social media and AI-driven environments. Her work also delves into fan studies, fanfiction, and the societal implications of generative AI and chatbots. The trend in her recent publications reflects a strong engagement with media ethics, audience experiences (such as 'series fatigue'), climate communication through comics, and the cultural significance of fandom. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges communication theory, digital design, and cultural analysis.
