Dr. Sophie Fauset is an Associate Professor in Terrestrial Ecology at the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Plymouth . She is actively engaged in research, teaching, and supervision, with a focus on forest responses to global environmental change. She is accepting PhD students and contributes to interdisciplinary environmental programs. Research Interests: Her research centers on the impacts of climate change, rising CO₂ levels, and forest degradation on terrestrial ecosystems. She specializes in tropical forest ecology, ecophysiology, and ecosystem modeling. A current emphasis is on how tree species regulate leaf temperatures and how this affects their resilience under climate stress. She also explores urban ecology and temperate rainforests through community collaborations. Publication Trends: Her recent work, published in high-impact journals such as Nature , Science , and Nature Communications , investigates large-scale patterns in tropical forest functional traits, species richness, wood density, and climate adaptation. These studies highlight the vulnerability of tropical forests to climate change and the importance of physiological and ecological traits in predicting ecosystem responses.
