Siva Panda is a Professor at Augusta University, holding appointments in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Science and Mathematics, as well as in the Medical College of Georgia’s Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Georgia Cancer Center. He contributes significantly to interdisciplinary research in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. Ph.D. in Chemistry, University of Delhi, 2010 Ph.D. in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Delhi, 2011 MS in Medicinal/Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Manipal University, 2006 MS in Medicinal/Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, 2005 BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Berhampur University, 2002 PHARMD in Pharmacy, Berhampur University, 2002 BA in Intellectual Property Law, Nalsar University of Law, 2007 Dr. Panda's research focuses on the design and synthesis of peptide conjugates, cyclic peptides, and peptidomimetics , alongside computer-aided drug design and isolation of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants . He is passionate about developing greener synthetic methods for pharmaceuticals. His work bridges organic chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmacology to advance therapeutic discovery. The recent publications highlight a strong trend in medicinal chemistry , particularly in designing novel inhibitors for diseases like HIV, tuberculosis, and bacterial infections. His work combines organic synthesis , biological evaluation , and computational modeling to create hybrid molecules with enhanced efficacy. The focus areas include antimicrobial agents, antiviral compounds, enzyme inhibitors, and sustainable synthesis techniques. Dr. Panda has received several prestigious awards recognizing his excellence in research and teaching: Excellence in Research Award, Augusta University (2018) Outstanding Faculty Award, Augusta University (2023) Boundless Teaching Award, Augusta University (2023) Excellence in Teaching Award, Augusta University (2025) Louis K. Bell Research Award, Augusta University (2025) He actively mentors undergraduate and graduate students through research supervision and serves as a faculty advisor for pre-pharmacy students. He has contributed to curriculum development and faculty mentoring programs. Dr. Panda has secured research recognition through awards and editorial leadership, including serving as Editor-in-Chief of Mini-Reviews in Organic Chemistry . He has been involved in multiple service roles across departments, colleges, and the university, including chairing the Faculty Development Committee and contributing to new building planning initiatives. Dr. Panda leads a dynamic research program focused on drug discovery and development, with strong ties to cancer research via the Georgia Cancer Center. He collaborates across disciplines and fosters innovation in both teaching and scholarship. His lab emphasizes training students in modern synthetic and computational techniques while promoting sustainability in chemical research.
