Johan Lugnet is an Associate Professor (Docent) in Information Systems with a focus on Information Security at Luleå University of Technology. He is affiliated with the Department of Computer Science within the Department of Systems and Space Engineering. Lugnet serves as the program director for the Master's program in Cybersecurity and represents his institution at SRT in the Rector's Quality Council. His educational background includes: PhD in Product Innovation from Luleå University of Technology (2015) Technical Licentiate in Functional Product Development from Luleå University of Technology (2012) Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Arena Innovative Technology and Entrepreneurship from Luleå University of Technology (2010) Lugnet's research focuses on the sociotechnical dimensions of cybersecurity, examining how social and organizational factors impact security practices. He investigates cybersecurity challenges in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly focusing on human factors in cybersecurity and how organizations can develop better security awareness and practices. His work bridges the gap between technical security solutions and organizational implementation, emphasizing that information security is not just a technical challenge but also socially constructed. Lugnet is particularly interested in how organizations can plan and collaborate to make informed decisions and strategic choices to operate competitively in the digital global marketplace.
