Dr. Allan Taylor is Associate Professor of Media Production and Head of Leicester Media School at De Montfort University, within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media. He plays a key role in civic and business engagement in the creative industries and leads academic programmes in media production, entrepreneurship, and visual culture. His research lies at the intersection of visual culture, media, and performance, with a focus on authenticity, performativity, gender, and queer culture in digital spaces. His monograph Authenticity as Performativity on Social Media (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022) offers a critical framework for understanding self-presentation on social platforms. Scientific recognition includes: Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2020) Taylor advises PhD students on topics including e-learning in pop music education and performance art in queer space construction. He has led regional initiatives such as the Leicester Creative Expo and served as an external consultant for the British Council’s Creative Spark programme (2018–2023), supporting creative enterprise education in Central Asia. His work bridges academic research, creative pedagogy, and industry collaboration. He is affiliated with the Institute of Drama, Dance and Performance Studies and the Institute of Creative Technologies (IOCT), where he contributes to interdisciplinary research in media and performance innovation.
