Dr. Ingrid Pretzer-Aboff is a Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing, Department of Adult Health and Nursing Systems. She holds dual fellowship status as both a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America (FGSA) and Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). Her research focuses on optimizing function and quality of life for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases. Specific interests include freezing of gait, tremor management, non-medical interventions for Parkinson's symptoms, neurofeedback, gait analysis, wearable medical devices, WiFi sensing systems, and AI applications in neurological care. She also studies the psychosocial aspects of movement disorders and develops technologies to improve mobility. Her publications demonstrate a focus on technological interventions for neurological conditions, particularly Parkinson's disease. Recent work emphasizes wearable sensors, vibration therapy, machine learning applications, and feasibility studies in diverse populations including low-income seniors.
