Dr. Melanie Müller is a Guest Lecturer at the Hertie School in Berlin and Deputy Head of the Research Division Africa and Middle East at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP). Her work focuses on political dynamics in Southern Africa, global supply chain geopolitics, and sustainability governance. Current Roles : Deputy Head (SWP), Guest Lecturer (Hertie School), Co-Chair of International Cooperation Thematic Working Group Research Themes : Resource governance, EU-Africa relations, post-apartheid challenges, critical minerals, environmental justice Her publications analyze geopolitical tensions in mineral supply chains, with recent works on BRICS collaboration, EU-China raw material dynamics, and sustainable development in Africa. She contributes to policy frameworks for equitable resource management and global governance. Member of Humboldt Foundation's German Chancellor Fellowship selection committee (since 2021) Chairperson of the Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate Advisory Board (since 2021) Dr. Müller leads projects like International Raw Material Cooperation and Research Network Sustainable Global Supply Chains , advising policymakers on systemic rivalry and trade resilience. Her work bridges academic research with practical policy solutions for sustainable development.
