David S. Siroky is Assistant Professor of Political Science in the School of Politics and Global Studies at Arizona State University. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science and M.A. in Economics from Duke University and served as Henry Hart Rice Fellow at Yale University prior to joining ASU. His research centers on three interconnected areas: Group formation and dissolution processes, particularly examining ethnic conflict and civil war dynamics The relationship between political change and various forms of instability Methodological integration of non-parametric statistical modeling with formal theory and qualitative information Dr. Siroky is developing a book on secession that synthesizes these research strands. His theoretical framework explains how societies experience different types of political violence based on whether ethnicity or class serves as the dominant principle of group formation. He presented his research on "Principles of Group Formation and Varieties of Political Violence" at the Department of Political Science colloquium, analyzing how intergroup versus within-group inequalities influence whether societies experience ethno-nationalist conflicts or revolutionary warfare. Professional recognition includes: Henry Hart Rice Fellowship at Yale University Dr. Siroky has collaborated internationally, participating in research workshops such as "The Violation of Human Rights in New Europe: A Cross-National Analysis" hosted by the Department of Political Science at the University of Mainz during the Summer Semester 2012.
