Leonardo Schirone serves as a Tenure-Track Researcher (RTT) in Medical Genetics at the Department of Health and Life Sciences, European University of Rome since 2024, where he teaches Biology and Genetics for the Medicine and Surgery Degree Course. His academic background includes a PhD in Molecular Medicine, followed by postdoctoral research at Sapienza University of Rome and IRCCS Neuromed. At IRCCS Neuromed, he led a PNRR-funded research unit investigating genetic determinants of chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity. Dr. Schirone's translational research focuses on: Molecular mechanisms in cardiovascular diseases Nutraceutical applications and autophagy modulation in preclinical models Genetics of cardiovascular pathologies Single-cell sequencing technologies applied to myasthenia gravis With over 35 peer-reviewed publications in international journals, he has received recognition through awards at national and international scientific conferences. He maintains active membership in leading professional societies including the American Heart Association, European Society of Cardiology, Italian Society of Cardiology, and Sigma Xi Honor Society. As an academic contributor, he serves as reviewer and guest editor for high-impact journals, co-authored two scientific volumes, and regularly supervises graduate theses while conducting educational seminars in biotechnology and translational medicine.
