Assoc. Prof. Galina Nedilkova Kurteva holds a PhD in Philological Sciences and is affiliated with the Department of New Bulgarian Studies at the National University of Sofia. Her academic background includes studies in Bulgarian and English Philology from Sofia University, a PhD from the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow), and postgraduate specialization in Beijing. She has directed the Summer School for Bulgarian Language and Culture at NBU and led the Erasmus+ project 'Bulgarian Language for Erasmus Students.' Her research focuses on text linguistics, sociolinguistics, and intercultural communication. She has actively participated in national and international projects, including collaborations with institutions in China, Italy, Austria, and Russia. Her work emphasizes Bulgarian language acquisition challenges for foreign learners, particularly Russian speakers, and pedagogical innovations in SLA (Second Language Acquisition). Prof. Kurteva has developed Bulgarian language textbooks for foreign learners (e.g., Здравейте ) and contributed to language policy studies, including CEFR alignment and testing methodologies. She currently teaches courses on Bulgarian linguistics and language pedagogy. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Union of Bulgarian Scientists and the China Friendship Society. She has supervised projects on language assessment frameworks and intercultural education, reflecting her commitment to bridging linguistic and cultural divides.
