Prof. I.S. Sariyildiz holds the Chair of Design Informatics at Delft University of Technology's Department of Architectural Engineering + Technology within the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. Her research focuses on integrating computational methods to address both soft (e.g., spatial perception, cultural factors) and hard (e.g., structural, energy, sustainability) aspects of architectural design during the conceptual phase. She advocates for performance-driven design through digital tools and optimization models like Building Information Modeling (BIM). Education and career highlights include advising the Dutch Ministries of Spatial Planning and Social Affairs, founding the DEWIS (Delft Women in Science) Network, and fostering academic collaboration between Dutch and Turkish institutions. With over 200 scientific publications, her work bridges computational intelligence, design configuration, and sustainable urban solutions. Awards: Recognized as one of the Netherlands’ most influential Turkish professionals and a leader in science and gender equality. Leadership: Promotes interdisciplinary design practices and digital innovation in architectural education and industry. Her research lab explores tools for performative computational design, emphasizing early-stage decision-making to optimize building performance across technical, aesthetic, and socio-economic dimensions.
