Asta Kristine Håberg is a Professor at the Department of Neuromedicine and Movement Science , Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences . She is also Head of the Norwegian National Advisory Unit for functional MRI at St. Olav’s University Hospital and the Trondheim fMRI group , as well as leading the Center of Innovative Ultrasound Solutions (CIUS) . Medical doctor and PhD in Medicine (dr.med.) Specializes in medical imaging and spectroscopy , with a focus on cognition across the lifespan and neurological/neurosurgical conditions Extensive research in traumatic brain injury , dementia risk factors , and exercise interventions for brain aging Key methodologies include diffusion tensor imaging , functional MRI , and population-based studies Her recent publications (2025-2024) reveal a strong emphasis on: Neurodegenerative disease mechanisms (dementia, Alzheimer’s) Brain injury recovery (TAI, mTBI, thalamic connectivity) Neuroimaging biomarkers (white matter microstructure, diffusion MRI) Cognitive aging (occupational demands, retirement effects) Developmental neuroscience (prematurity, brain complexity) Neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration in trauma Labs/Teams: Trondheim fMRI group , CIUS (Center for Research-based Innovation) , and collaborations with HUNT Study and CENTER-TBI consortia.
