Professor Fatma Pakdil is a distinguished academic in the Department of Business Administration at Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU), specializing in Quality Management, Six Sigma, Lean Production, and Healthcare Operations. She holds a Ph.D. and MBA from Uludag University, with additional research at Wake Forest University’s Baptist Medical Center and a sabbatical collaboration at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. Her teaching focuses on Operations Management, Healthcare Management, and Six Sigma methodologies. Notable contributions include co-authoring Performance Leadership (2016) and Six Sigma for Students (2020), and initiating ECSU’s Healthcare Management minor. Her research emphasizes statistical quality control in healthcare, cultural impacts on lean processes, and big data analytics in healthcare systems. She has secured grants, including from NASA’s CT Space Consortium, to promote STEM education. Awarded the 2018 CSU-AAUP Research Award and 2021 Undergraduate Research Mentor Award, she mentors students in projects presented at national conferences (e.g., NCUR, NEDSI). Her editorial roles include serving on the boards of International Journal of Lean Six Sigma and Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management . She also contributed to ISO standards through the US Technical Group (US TAG/ISO TC 69).
