Jose Antonio Flores Yepes serves as a Professor and Department Deputy Director in the Department of Engineering at Miguel Hernández University of Elche. He teaches across Bachelor's programs in Agro-Food and Agro-Environmental Engineering, Master's programs in Agricultural Engineering and Project Design, and coordinates the Doctorate in Agricultural, Agro-Environmental and Food Resources and Technologies. His office is located at the Engineering Department campus in Orihuela, Alicante. His research demonstrates a unique dual focus : (1) Sustainable construction materials involving bio-based composites (rice straw, common reed) with gypsum binders, and (2) Biomedical engineering applications for lower-limb rehabilitation through brain-computer interfaces. Key themes include material modification with citric acid/carbon fibers/graphene, fire behavior analysis of construction elements, and EEG signal processing for exoskeleton control. This interdisciplinary approach bridges civil engineering with neurotechnology. Recent publications (2018-2024) reveal two dominant streams: construction materials innovation (65% of output) covering agricultural waste valorization and gypsum composite enhancement, and biomedical signal processing (35%) focused on motor imagery BCI systems for mobility assistance. The work consistently addresses practical engineering challenges in agro-industrial contexts while exploring cutting-edge neurorehabilitation techniques. He actively contributes to the NUEVOS MATERIALES DE LA CONSTRUCCION (New Construction Materials) research group and collaborates with the University Institute for Agro-food and Agro-environmental Research and Innovation. His teaching portfolio includes course coordination for Agro-Industrial Buildings, Soil and Material Mechanics, and Storage Facilities Projects across multiple degree programs.
