Jeffrey Heys is a Professor and Department Head in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Montana State University. He holds a B.S. from Montana State University and M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, with a postdoctoral fellowship in Applied Mathematics at the latter institution. His research focuses on applying conservation laws (mass, momentum, energy) to biological systems, particularly fluid-structure interactions in biofilms and sensory systems. Key areas include nanoparticle synthesis modeling, microbial consortia dynamics, and high-order finite element methods. He leads the Computational Biofluids Group, developing tools like the Parafos DG-INS solver and nanoSynth for radiation detection.
