Jonathan Sewell Finkel

Jonathan Sewell Finkel is an Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Detroit Mercy's College of Engineering & Science. He joined the department in fall 2016 and teaches courses in genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, and bioinformatics, including the HHMI-designed SEA-PHAGES and SEA-GENES curricula.

• Education: Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from University of Wisconsin-Madison; B.A. in Chemistry and Norwegian from Saint Olaf College

Dr. Finkel's research focuses on Candida albicans pathogenesis, particularly its biofilm formation on implanted medical devices and associated bloodstream infections. His work intersects microbiology, molecular biology, and biomedical applications.
