Filiz Karaosmanoğlu serves as a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, where she leads research in sustainable energy systems and environmental engineering. With 70 research outputs and an h-index of 26 (3,119 Scopus citations), she directs 11 active and completed research projects focused on bioenergy and sustainability. Her research centers on biofuels derived from non-food biomass (safflower oil, rapeseed cake, sugar beet molasses), life cycle assessment of energy systems, and carbon footprint analysis. She investigates alternative fuel blends, biodiesel production, and thermodynamic processes for hydrogen generation, emphasizing environmental impact reduction in industrial and energy applications. Recent publications (2020-2025) reveal a cohesive focus on renewable energy validation through life cycle assessment, with strong emphasis on biomass-to-biofuel conversion, data center sustainability, and waste-to-energy systems. Her work consistently bridges chemical engineering principles with environmental science to develop practical sustainable solutions. Professor Karaosmanoğlu has supervised 31 graduate students and secured significant research funding, including ongoing projects like 'Environmental Footprint Management in Industry' (2023-2025), 'Asphalt Gasification for Value-Added Products' (2023-2025), and 'Climate-Friendly Data Center Cooling' (2021-2022), demonstrating sustained leadership in translating research into industrial applications.
