Elena Cichero is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy (DIFAR) at the University of Genoa, specializing in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. She teaches advanced courses including Purification and Dosage of Bioactive Compounds and Development of Multi-target Compounds and Drug Repositioning for Master's degree programs in Pharmacy. Her research focuses on medicinal chemistry approaches to cancer therapy and cystic fibrosis, with particular emphasis on sirtuin inhibitors and heterocyclic compounds. Research interests: Sirtuin inhibition mechanisms Anticancer drug development Cystic fibrosis therapy Computational drug design Multi-target compound synthesis Bioactive compound purification Recent publication trends show focus on heterocyclic chemistry for therapeutic applications, particularly in melanoma treatment, CFTR modulation, and epigenetic targeting through sirtuins. Her work combines synthetic chemistry with computational approaches and biological evaluation. Contact: Available Monday-Friday by appointment via email at elena.cichero@unige.it
