Dr. Oscar Mauricio Bautista Aguilera is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Organic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Alcalá. His research group, Design, interaction and synthesis of bioactive compounds , focuses on developing therapeutic agents for neurodegenerative diseases and cancer through molecular design and synthesis. Research interests include: Design of bioactive molecules using molecular modeling techniques Synthesis of carbohydrate/oligonucleotide conjugates for antitumor applications DNA/RNA interaction studies, particularly G-quadruplex DNA ligands Isolation and characterization of natural products (flavonoids, terpenes) Development of metallotherapeutic compounds He leads significant research projects including: CM/JIN/2019-017 : Optimization of contilisant for Alzheimer's treatment (€50,540; Community of Madrid) PID2019-105813RB-C22 : New contilisant analogues (€121,000; MICINN) His publications demonstrate consistent focus on multi-target inhibitors for Alzheimer's therapy, with recent work exploring ferulic acid derivatives, tacrine developments, and novel quinolinone/triazolopyridopyrimidine scaffolds.
