Dr. Haile M. Larebo is a Professor of History at Morehouse College's Humanities, Social Sciences, Media, and Arts Division, specializing in African history with a focus on Italian colonialism, Ethiopian Orthodox Church politics, and Western Civilization. He has taught at Morehouse since 1991, earning recognition as a public intellectual through media appearances on BBC, Deutsche Welle, and ESAT. Education: Bachelor of Arts, Angelicum University, Rome Licentiate in Sacred Theology, Angelicum University, Rome MPhil in History and Philosophy of Religion, King's College London PhD in African Studies and History, University of London Dr. Larebo's research spans Ancient and Modern Africa, Horn of Africa, and Church-State relations in Ethiopia. His seminal work The Building of an Empire: Italian Land Policy and Practice in Ethiopia, 1935-1941 (1994) examines Fascist Italy's colonial strategies and their failures. His recent 2025 article A Forgotten Crime analyzes modern erasure of Ethiopian history.
