Troy Visser is a Professor and Head of School at the School of Psychological Science, The University of Western Australia. He holds a PhD from Bond University and leads the Attention and Human Behaviour Laboratory, equipped with advanced tools like vehicle simulators, eye-tracking systems, and neural stimulators. His research bridges basic and applied cognitive science, focusing on attention, multi-tasking, and their applications in fields like aviation, defense, and transportation. Visser's expertise includes multi-tasking, distraction, automation, and human factors. He has secured over AUD 25 million in research funding, including grants from the Australian Research Council and the Defence Science and Technology Group. His teaching roles include coordinating PSYC 2203 (Research Methods and Statistics) and lecturing in cognitive neuroscience and psychology. With 103 publications and 25 h-index, his work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to innovation and infrastructure. Current projects include submarine command systems and augmented reality for combatants. Supervising 16 students, he emphasizes translating research into practical solutions for real-world challenges.
