YoungJu Choie is a South Korean mathematician specializing in number theory and modular forms, currently serving as a full professor at POSTECH. She earned her Ph.D. from Temple University (1986) under Marvin Knopp and has held academic roles at Ohio State University, University of Maryland, and University of Colorado before joining POSTECH in 1990. She became University Professor at POSTECH in 2022. Her research focuses on Jacobi forms, modular forms, and their applications, including work on Fourier coefficients of cusp forms. Choie has held leadership roles such as Editor-in-Chief of the Bulletin of the Korean Mathematical Society (2010–2011), President of the Society of Korean Women in Mathematical Sciences (2017), and served on national committees like the Presidential Advisory Council on Science and Technology (2019–2020). She led the 2014 Seoul International Congress of Mathematicians organizing committee and became the first Korean female mathematician inducted into the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (2018). Her recognitions include AMS Fellowship (2013), multiple awards from the Korean government and academic societies, and international editorships in journals like the International Journal of Number Theory. She advocates for women in STEM through initiatives like the 'She Did It' campaign (2021).
