Tomasz Z. Szarek is an Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia (UGA) and a member of the Bilbao Analysis and PDE research group. He holds a habilitation in Mathematics from the University of Wrocław and has held postdoctoral positions at BCAM (Basque Center for Applied Mathematics), Rutgers University, and the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on real and Fourier analysis, with applications to ergodic theory, spherical analysis, and discrete harmonic analysis (both commutative and noncommutative). He co-organizes the online Ergodic Theory & Analysis Seminar, emphasizing interdisciplinary connections in mathematical analysis. Education: PhD in Mathematics (2015), Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences M.Sc. in Mathematics (2011), Wrocław University of Technology Research Trends: Szarek's recent work explores dimension-free estimates for maximal functions, sharp bounds for heat kernels, and ergodic theorems on nilpotent groups. His publications span harmonic analysis, operator theory, and applications to number theory problems like lattice point equidistribution. Labs & Teams: He collaborates with the Bilbao Analysis and PDE research group and engages in interdisciplinary projects involving harmonic analysis and ergodic theory.
