Dr. Amy Bei is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology (Microbial Diseases) at the Yale School of Public Health , with affiliations to the Yale Institute for Global Health . Her research spans multiple continents with ongoing projects in Senegal and collaborations across Sub-Saharan Africa. Yale School of Public Health Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases Yale Institute for Global Health Research Focus : Dr. Bei's work intersects population genetics, genomics, molecular genetics, epidemiology, and immunology in the context of Plasmodium – the causative agent of malaria. She applies translational systems biology to understand how antigenic diversity affects immune evasion, transmission, and virulence in areas with declining malaria transmission. Her team studies genotype-specific immunity, transmission potential in mosquito vectors, and malaria vaccine candidate discovery and validation. Publications demonstrate sustained work in genomic surveillance, drug resistance monitoring, vaccine development, vector biology, and field-applicable method development across multiple countries including Senegal, Uganda, and the Greater New Haven area. Her work includes collaborations with multiple Yale departments and international institutions in West and East Africa. Key Collaborations: Harvard T.H.
