Zu-Yan Chen is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor at Binghamton University, holding courtesy titles in the Translation Research and Instruction Program (TRIP) and serving as Director of the Center for Theater Arts Collaboration. His affiliations include the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies, TRIP, and the Center for Theater Arts Collaboration.
- PhD from University of Wisconsin-Madison
- MA and BA from Fudan University
His research focuses on pre-modern Chinese poetry, Confucianism, translation of classical Chinese literature, and language pedagogy. He has authored seven books and numerous articles, and currently serves on the Board of the SUNY Distinguished Academy and as Editor-in-Chief of TheaComm: An E-Journal of Theater Arts Communication.
Chen is a prominent speaker, presenting at universities across the U.S. and China. His teaching emphasizes Chinese literary history, Confucian ethics, and cross-cultural translation practices.
