Zoran Ninkov

Zoran Ninkov is a Professor at the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science within the College of Science at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). With expertise spanning instrumentation, detectors, optics, and astronomy, he contributes to imaging science through research, teaching, and technological innovation.

• BSc (1st Class Honours) in Physics, University of Western Australia
• MSc in Chemistry, Monash University
• PhD in Geophysics and Astronomy, University of British Columbia

His research focuses on imaging detectors, solid-state camera design, and astronomical instrumentation. Publications highlight work on polarizers, digital micromirror devices, and thermal signature tracking algorithms, emphasizing applications in aerospace, remote sensing, and optical engineering.

Notably, Ninkov was selected as an NSF program director to evaluate imaging and astrophysics research opportunities and developed a NASA-mission compatible astronomical imager inspired by cinema technology.
