Zora J Murff is the SMFA Endowed Professor of the Practice at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, holding a dual appointment since September 2023. His work focuses on liberation from anti-Blackness through photography and interdisciplinary art practices. He is a recipient of the 2023 ICP Infinity Award and has exhibited globally at institutions including MoMA, LACMA, and the V&A Museum.

Research interests include the intersection of visual culture with racial capitalism, stereotypes, and Black liberation. His monograph True Colors (or, Affirmations in a Crisis) (Aperture, 2022) explores systemic oppression and self-determination. Murff's practice stretches photography across disciplines, engaging critical theory and social critique.
Notable exhibitions include RACE/HUSTLE at MASS MoCA (2025) and American Photographs at V&A South Kensington (2027). Awards include residency fellowships from Light Work and MoMA's New Photography series.
