Zoltán Novotny-Farkas is a Full Professor of International Accounting at the Department of Finance, Accounting, and Statistics at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna). He serves as Head of the International Accounting Group and teaches courses including Introduction to IFRS, Accounting and Regulation of Banks, and Accounting and Regulation of Insurance Companies at both bachelor's and master's levels.
His educational background includes a degree in International Business Administration from the University of Vienna and a doctoral degree from Goethe University Frankfurt (2011). Prior to joining WU Vienna in 2018, he served as a lecturer and senior lecturer at Lancaster University (UK) and was a visiting scholar at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Professor Novotny-Farkas specializes in empirical accounting research with a focus on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), banking regulation, and the economic consequences of accounting standards. His work examines how accounting regulations impact financial institutions, particularly banks, and investigates the relationship between accounting practices, risk-taking behavior, and capital market outcomes.
