Zoe Smith

Zoe Smith serves as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton within the Faculty of Education, Health & Wellbeing and the School of Architecture and Built Environment. Despite the architectural school affiliation, her professional background and expertise are firmly rooted in nursing education and clinical practice.

Her educational background includes a BSc (Hons) in Professional Studies (Nursing) completed in September 2011, a PGCE with NMC register teacher status obtained in September 2013, and an MA in Education awarded in October 2016.

Smith's research interests present an unusual combination of urban and rural regeneration topics alongside her nursing expertise. Her clinical experience spans working in busy Emergency Departments with critically ill adults, serving as Ward Manager in Trauma and Orthopaedics, and working as Lead Nurse for Pre-registration nursing across three NHS hospital sites. She maintains active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), having first obtained registration in July 1993 with renewal through September 2019.

Her two documented scholarly outputs focus on nursing education resources presented at professional conferences in 2014 and 2015, demonstrating her commitment to developing mentorship tools and student support systems in healthcare education.

Smith has secured funding from HEWM to develop mentor support resources and has collaborated with Birmingham City University on student support initiatives, indicating active engagement in educational grant activities within the nursing field.
