Zoe Allen is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Peninsula Dental School, Faculty of Health, University of Plymouth, and a Consultant in Dental Public Health at NHS England South West. Her work focuses on reducing oral health inequalities and improving access to dental services across South West England through epidemiological research and policy collaboration with local government and the NHS.
Dr. Allen's research centers on critical disparities in oral healthcare delivery. Her primary interests include:
- Public Health Dentistry and national epidemiology programs
- Oral Health Inequalities in rural and coastal communities
- Geriatric Dentistry and mouth care for dependent adults
- Oral health interventions for populations experiencing multiple disadvantage
- Dementia-inclusive dental care systems
As an educator, Dr. Allen has shaped undergraduate dental curricula since 2011 through clinical supervision, evidence-based practice training, and innovative community projects. She co-developed the MBA Healthcare course on Managing Difficult Consultations and recently led student initiatives to redesign dental practice environments for dementia patients, focusing on team protocols, physical accessibility, and patient-centered policies.
