Zhiyun Lee is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Quinlan School of Business, Loyola University Chicago since 2016. She holds a PhD from Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) and a BBA from Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research focuses on applied microeconomics, industrial organization, law and economics, and information economics. She has taught at Kellogg School of Management and the University of Hong Kong, and previously worked in economic litigation consulting.
Research interests include strategic behavior in selective admissions systems, legal settlements, Bayesian information dynamics, and credibility of crime allegations. Her work bridges theoretical economics with real-world applications in law and policy.
Teaching excellence recognized in 2024, and research excellence awarded in 2020. Serves as Associate Editor for the International Review of Law and Economics (2024–present). Active in teaching microeconomic theory across PhD/MECON/undergraduate/MBA levels, and industrial organization courses.
Publications span top journals like American Economic Review: Insights, American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, and RAND Journal of Economics. Research explores intersections of economic decision-making with legal frameworks, institutional design, and information asymmetry.
