Zhiming Xu, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Strategic Communication and Information Systems at Marquette University, where he serves as founding director of the Ai4Ai Lounge (Artificial Intelligence for Analytics and Insights). His research examines how emerging technologies transform communication processes and societal patterns.
Dr. Xu's interdisciplinary work bridges communication studies, data science, and information systems. Current projects investigate AI's impact on content creation, digital fundraising, and organizational communication. Methodologically, he employs computational approaches including natural language processing, network analysis, and machine learning.
He teaches courses in Communication Statistics, Research Methods, and Digital Communication Strategies. As affiliated faculty at the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute, he co-chairs the Talent Subcommittee and leads initiatives integrating AI education across disciplines. His research has been funded through multiple NMDSI grants supporting AI curriculum development and applied research projects.
